Hello, I am Lakmina Gamage.

I am a robotics researcher, AI developer, and tech enthusiast currently reading for my BSc. (Hons) in Information Technology at the University of Moratuwa. I specialize in the intersection of physical hardware and intelligent software, focusing primarily on Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, and the Internet of Things (IoT).

My journey is driven by hands-on engineering and research. Recently, during my time at WSO2, I worked on applied robotics by helping program an AI-powered quadruped robot designed for autonomous navigation, spatial awareness, and interactive human engagement. Beyond industry experience, I am deeply involved in open-source AI research. A major focus of my work is WeNavigate, a research initiative utilizing advanced Vision-Language Models (VLMs) to solve complex indoor robotic navigation challenges. I also bridge AI with physical environments through projects like AirSense, an IoT-based system recognized at the Startup Worldcup Regional Finals.

I am a dedicated problem solver who thrives in hardware and AI innovation challenges. My teams and I have secured multiple championships for our intelligent systems, including the Grand Prize at the HUAWEI Developer Competition Asia Pacific 2024 and back-to-back victories at the Intellicon Inter-University AI/ML Ideathon.

When I’m not building autonomous systems or wiring circuits, I am writing about them. As a technical writer for publications like Stackademic and AI in Plain English, I enjoy breaking down complex topics like LLM architectures, VLM integrations, and ROS (Robot Operating System) development into accessible guides for the community.
